A security camera records a woman who has been homeless for two years dancing in public after getting a job.

Have you ever experienced such overwhelming happiness that you felt compelled to start a happy dance right away? Kayallah Jones, 21, has, and her joyful dance caused millions of people to grin online as they shared in the once homeless young woman’s happiness amidst the unfortunate happenings that 2020 has to offer. In a 13-second security camera video, Jones can be seen dancing joyfully in a parking lot following her flawless performance in a job interview for a waitress. The manager of the Atlanta eatery where Jones conducted the interview, Dakara Spence, posted the video online. It has now received 1.4 million views on Instagram.

Spence posted the video to Instagram along with a note, “So I just hired this young girl, and this was her response,” Following his job interview, Jones can be seen in the video leaving The Spot, an Atlanta, Georgia sports bar and restaurant. She pauses for a little moment in the parking lot, looks about to see if anyone is there, and then impulsively starts to dance merrily. She then carries on casually, strolling away as if nothing had happened.

Atlanta’s CBS 46 reported that Jones had lost many jobs and been homeless for two years as a result of the outbreak. On September 29, 2020, she managed to do well in the interview and made an impression on Spence with her lively demeanor, which turned her life entirely upside down. “I was unaware that I was being filmed until I was outside,” Jones admitted to the network. Although Spence noticed something unique about the young woman during her interview, she said that the dance was what ultimately made the connection. “She had a great energy. I felt it as soon as she walked in. She seemed really positive,” Spence remarked.

“I called her phone, and I said I’m going to hire you, and I saw your happy dance, so you can continue dancing,” she said. “She was just screaming through the phone and it was just a beautiful moment for me.” Jones is now employed as a server at The Spot, and she really appreciates Spence for transforming her life almost instantly by offering her the position and sharing the video on social media, which has subsequently led to several opportunities for the two of them. “Ms. Dakara didn’t know, but I was going through so much, and at that point, when she gave me this chance and this opportunity,” she explained.

“I was elated, excited, and so overwhelmed to the point where no one understood how happy and accomplished I felt at that moment,” Jones stated. She advised others to develop the habit of doing a small happy dance “every time they’re happy, anytime you get a blessing, anytime you had a great opportunity, and you have something that you were working towards for years or months, or praying for,” in an interview with writer Jamie Kennedy. The two recently made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where Spence revealed that she connected with Jones on a deeper level because she recognized herself in the young woman.

“I simply recognized myself in her since I have experienced being rejected from a job.” I was just turned away for my hair since I had other employment someplace in Georgia. They informed me that until I put some kind of gel in it, I couldn’t go back. And I simply gave up. I said to myself, “I want to leave this place.” I told them that I would never turn away a chance to give a job to someone else,” she disclosed. “I liked [Jones] when she entered after that. She’s fantastic. I laughed the entire time with her. She is, therefore, incredible. I cherish her.
